DUONG LAM ANCIENT VILLAGE – 5 IN 1 DAY TOUR

 

After the recognition of Hoi An ancient town, Hanoi old quarter, Duong Lam village in Son Tay Town (60km to the west of Hanoi Capital) is the first ancient village recognised as a national relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information. The ancient village has a history of about 1,200 years with many houses dating back up to 400 years. This is also the home to 2 famous kings of Vietnam Ngo Quyen and Phung Hung.

 

8:00 – 8:15: Pick up at Hotel, bus transfer to Duong Lam ancient village.

Enroute, visit Son Dong village, better known for its  famous wood products, fine art and carved lacquer. Here, people could hear the sound  of carve and cut around the village.

 

At around 10:00, you arrive in Duong Lam ancient village. The architecture here is typical for North Vietnam rural area. One special thing about the village is that most of the buildings here are made of laterite and mud, two materials that are abundant in the area. You visit Mong Phu communal house, old houses, temples of 2 kings. You also have chances to communicate with villagers and see the local life.

 

Bus transfer to Son Tay town and have lunch at a local restaurant.

Visit Thay Pagoda (Master’s Pagoda) or Tay Phuong Pagoda (Pagoda of the West), which are also an exposition gallery for many national engraving and culptural masterpieces.

In the afternoon, we visit Van Phuc silk village on the West of Hanoi, we are surprised at “silk shop town”. 90% of villagers are involved in silk production and business. This is the ideal place for souvenirs and silk products.

In the late afternoon, come back and say goodbye to tour guide at Hotel
